Indonesia is Vietnam’s highest growth rice export market since the beginning of the year with a value increase of 16 times.
The Indonesia National Logistics Agency (Bulog) has just issued a notice inviting bids to import 500,000 tons of 5% broken rice.
Of which, 200,000 tons come from Pakistan and 300,000 tons come from Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar.
The winning bidder will deliver the goods to Indonesia before December 25, 2023.

Bulog requires packaging of rice to be suitable for export standards and transportation by sea and road. The winning bidder is responsible for providing an additional 1% of empty packaging as a backup.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first 8 months of 2023, the Philippines remains Vietnam’s largest rice consumption market with a market share of 38.7%, equivalent to 2.35 million tons of rice and a turnover of 1. 23 billion USD, an increase of 2.6% in volume and 15.6% in value compared to the same period of 2022.
Among the 15 largest rice export markets, Indonesia has the strongest increase in value with 16.1 times.
In mid-September, a Vietnamese business won a bid to sell 50,000 tons of rice to Indonesia when this country opened a bid to import 300,000 tons of 5% broken white rice to businesses from Vietnam, Thailand, Pakistan and Cambodia./.
