Vietnamese enterprises invest nearly USD22 billion abroad

As of April 2023, Vietnamese enterprises had 1,643 valid overseas investment projects, with a total investment capital of more than USD21.93 billion.

According to statistics from the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, in the first four months of 2023, Vietnam's total newly and adjusted overseas investment capital reached more than USD153.5 million, equaling 46.8% against the same period in 2022.

In which, 41 projects were granted new investment registration certificates, with a total registered capital of more than USD140 million, equaling 49% compared to the same period last year; There were 11 adjusted projects with total investment capital increased by more than USD13.5 million, equaling 32.2% over the same period in 2022.

Vietnamese investors have invested abroad in 13 industries. In which, the information and communications sector took the lead with 10 new investment projects and 1 capital adjustment, with a total registered investment capital of nearly USD105.9 million, accounting for nearly 69% of the total registered investment capital abroad. The agriculture, forestry and fishery sector ranked second with more than USD13.2 million, accounting for 8.6%; followed by the processing, manufacturing and mining industries.

There are 20 countries and territories receiving investment from Vietnam in the first 4 months of 2023. Leading was Singapore with 7 new investment projects and 2 capital adjustment projects, with a total registered investment capital of nearly USD103,3 million, accounting for 62.3% of total investment capital. Next were Laos, Australia and Cuba, respectively.

As of April 2023, Vietnamese enterprises had 1,643 valid overseas investment projects with a total investment capital of more than USD21.93 billion. In which, 141 projects came from State-owned enterprises, with a total investment capital overseas of nearly USD11.67 billion, accounting for nearly 53.2% of the total investment capital of the country.

Vietnam's investment abroad focuses on the mining industry, accounting for 31.8%; agriculture; and forestry and fishery, accounting for 15.7%. The areas receiving the most investment from Vietnam are Laos (24.5%); Cambodia (13%); and Venezuela (8.3%)./.
