The list was made on the basis of growth in foreign tourist arrivals.
Vietnam gained a 24.6% growth in foreign tourist arrivals in 2016. It placed after just two countries in the same continent, Nepal at 2nd position with 37.9% and the Republic of Korea at 4th place with 30.3%.
Sierra Leone, a small West African nation, topped the list with 310% rise in overseas arrivals in 2016. This is a rapid growth compared to the previous year.
Just 24,000 travellers visited the country in 2015 and the figure amounted to about 74,400 in 2016. The main reason was due to the country being declared Ebola-free in November 2015.
Other surprising countries where tourism is booming include Iceland (39%), Moldova (28.6%), Chile (26%), Japan (21.8%), Liechtenstein (21.7%), and Kiribati (21.6%)./.
