Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme leaves Vietnam

(CPV) - On the afternoon of December 7th, ship Fuji Maru carrying 329 youth delegates left Sai Gon port bound for Japan and ended the 53 day journey of the ship.

Over four days in Ho Chi Minh City from December 4th – 7th, 329 delegates had various exciting and interesting activities such as cultural exchanges with Vietnamese youth, visits and work with the youth unions, press agencies, and most significantly the homestay program.

Speaking at the farewell ceremony, Nguyen Van Hieu, Secretary of the City Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union said that this programme was to strengthen the friendship of youth from countries and hoped the members of the ship would have good memories after their experience in Ho Chi Minh City.

The homestay was the main activity of the programme because it helped young people have a chance to experience a different life, and also the unique culture, tradition and customs of local people.

They stayed only several days but the delegates was warmly received by Vietnamese families.

On her first visit to Vietnam, Farah Lqbal from Singapore felt very excited and wanted to explore the traditional cultures as well as the special dishes of Vietnam.

Meanwhile, Arvinderjit Kaur from Malaysia said during her stay in Ho Chi Minh City, she felt that Vietnamese people were very hospitable. If she has a chance, she would come back to Vietnam in the near future.

Earlier, the friendship ship Fuji Maru departed from Yokohama, Japan on November 2nd and stayed in the Philippines from November 10th to 13th; Brunei from November 16th to 19th; Indonesia from November 22nd to 25th and Malaysia from November 28th to December 1st.
