The Ministry of Health has warned of the danger of the Ebola virus (EVD) currently epidemic in a number of African countries.

The disease caused by an acute and deadly virus is ranked group A in the Regulation against the contagious diseases. The disease has a mortality rate of 90 percent.

To prevent the further spread of the virus, the Department of Preventive Medicine, under the Ministry, is requiring people to ensure more effective personal hygiene activities including, washing hand with sanitizers, avoiding direct contact with the blood and saliva of infected people and animals.

Those who are living in areas with an EVD outbreak should receive medical testing immediately, if observing any symptom of the disease.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), EVD is introduced into the human population through close contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals./.
