On October 20, the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee and the provincial High Command Border Guard worked with the Vietnam Military Telecommunications Group (Viettel) to carry out the program on providing cows for poor families in Binh Lieu border district.

Accordingly, 226 poor families in 3 communes of the district received cows for production. In addition, each family was presented a telephone from Viettel Group.
Under the program, by using VND100,000 per month in Viettel telecommunications services, people can raise fund for the program.
In Quang Ninh province, according to Lanh The Vinh, Head of the provincial Board of Ethnic Minorities, as of October 14, 44 agencies registered to respond to the program with 16,155 subscribers, which equates to the donation of 1,077 cows to the program.
Overall the countrywide contribution from enterprises and individuals as of September has been calculated at the equivalent to an amount that will help provide 4,800 cows for the poor.
In October, the program is allocating 200-300 cows to each of 11 border provinces, in an attempt to distribute 1,000 cows to each of these 11 provinces by the end of this year./.
