The time to deploy COVID-19 vaccine for children aged 5-11 is expected in the first week of April 2022.

Previously, on March 22, the Ministry of Health worked with the Australian Embassy in Vietnam to support the COVID-19 vaccine for children aged 5-11.

Accordingly, the Australian Government has officially committed to providing Vietnam with about 13.7 million doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for children 5-11 years old in the first week of April 2022.

Currently, the Expanded Immunization Program is actively coordinating with the Australian Embassy to bring the vaccine to Vietnam within the next week.

In March 2022, the Expanded Immunization Program conducted specialized training on the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 5-11 to localities nationwide and guided localities to develop detailed organization of vaccination points.

The Ministry of Health and the Australian Embassy had a meeting on March 22, during which the Australian side confirmed that it can donate about 13.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to children.

Phase 1 has about 9.7 million doses of vaccine, including 0.7 million doses of vaccine manufactured by Pfizer and 9 million doses of vaccine manufactured by Moderna. All of these vaccines have an expiry date of July 2022, are available in Australia and can be shipped to Vietnam in early April 2022 after completing the procedures.

Phase 2 has about 4 million doses of the vaccine manufactured by Pfizer, supported by the Australian Government through UNICEF. The Australian side is completing the procedures and is expected to provide it in April 2022.

The Australian side will soon provide the vaccine's records for the Ministry of Health to urgently issue a license for use in accordance with regulations and transport it to Vietnam when approved.

In the report, the Ministry of Health proposed the Prime Minister allow the Ministry of Health to receive 13.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine donated by the Australian Government for injection from the beginning of April 2022./.
