Over the past two years, due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, many countries and territories have temporarily suspended entry, causing a deep drop in the number of foreign workers. However, recently, many markets have gradually opened their doors to receive Vietnamese workers and interns.

According to the Department of Overseas Labour Management under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Japanese Government has officially announced that it will ease restrictions on entry. Specifically, Japan allows trainees, international students and family visa holders to enter (except tourists), increasing the maximum number of people entering each day from 3,500 people to 5,000 people from March 2022.

Notably, entry procedures will be minimized to facilitate foreigners to enter and start working and studying in Japan. Procedures will also be carried out online.

The Taiwan (China) market recently announced that it has opened to receive workers from Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia from February 15. Taiwan (China) is the most important market for Vietnamese workers as each year it receives tens of thousands of people in many different professions.

Earlier, the Republic of Korea, a market that receives a lot of Vietnamese workers, announced it is increasing by 7,000 the target number of workers to be received under the EPS program this year, bringing the total recruitment target to nearly 60,000 people.

This is good news for those wishing to work in the Republic of Korea. In fact, some localities like Dong Thap Province have sent hundreds of workers to do seasonal jobs on farms such as picking peppers and tomatoes with an income of more than VND40 million per month.

Labour export companies share a very high demand for recruiting workers from countries and territories to restore economic development. According to Intracom Group General Director Tokai Ha Canh, after more than two years of the pandemic, Japanese companies are facing a serious shortage of labour resources. Many companies even have to suspend production or close due to lack of people to operate the machinery.

Therefore, Japanese businesses have repeatedly asked the Japanese Government to open the doors so that they can restore production and expand the market. In particular, unions from Japan continuously place orders to recruit trainees in many industries such as seafood processing, health care, and near-shore fishing.

General Director of Esuhai Co., Ltd. Le Long Son also said that the company has built a domestic job system to supply Japanese companies in the service, health care, information technology and engineering industries.

“We both connect jobs and train workers in the Japanese language. These candidates have experience, skills and good foreign language skills before leaving the country. At the same time, when returning home, the company continues to connect with the workers so that they can return to a better working environment,” said Mr. Son.

In 2022, the Department of Overseas Labour Management plans to send 90,000 Vietnamese workers abroad./.
