During the country’s two resistance wars against the French colonists and the US imperialists, the people and army of Tam Ky upheld the revolutionary heroism and brave spirit, contributing to national independence and reunification. In 2005, Tam Ky was recognised as a Grade 3 city and became a provincially-run city in 2006.

Speaking at the ceremony, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc spoke highly of achievements the Party Committee, administration and people of Tam Ky city have obtained over the past years.

The Government leader urged the city to exert more efforts to fulfil all socio-economic development tasks over the coming time.

The city should also strive to become a model urban area in terms of a cultured lifestyle, as well as apply advanced urban management experience to the locality; continue accelerating administrative procedure reforms and application of information technology in management; and ensure local political and security stability in all circumstances, he noted./.
