Experiencing cultural activities of Old Spring in Hanoi Old Quarter

The Management Board of Hanoi Old Quarter will organize cultural activities “Old Spring Features” at relic sites and cultural spaces in Hoan Kiem district from January 25th.

A Kim Ngan Communal House at No.42-44 Hang Bac street, visitors will study decoration and installation space for traditional Tet, and offering trays at the communal house, including specialities of Hanoi. At Cultural House at No.87 Ma May street, photos and objects on Old Tet of Hanoians, as well as bonsai arts and tea enjoyment of Hanoians in the past, will be displayed.

The cultural highlight in the series of activities will be an exhibition on ceramics and paintings at the Hanoi Old Quarter Culture Exchange Centre at No.50 Dao Duy Tu street. Visitors will have an opportunity to enjoy Huong Can pottery works by artisans from the northern province of Vinh Phuc and paintings on special paper by artisans from Duong O village, the northern province of Bac Ninh.

Artisan Giang Thi Nhan from Huong Canh Ceramics Center will demonstrate techniques of pottery making.  Researchers and collectors will share stories about the history and cultural meaning of Do paper (a special paper for painting).

At the Hanoi Old Quarter Heritage Information Center (No.28 Hang Buom), the Organizing Board will introduce three famous Vietnamese folk painting styles, including Dong Ho (Bac Ninh), Kim Hoang, and Hang Trong (Hanoi)./.
