Fifth Hanoi International Film Festival to take place in October

The film “Shoplifters” by Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda will open the 5th Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF) and “A Fantastic Woman” by Chilean director Sebastián Lelio, will be screened at the closing ceremony.
The fifth HANIFF will take place from October 27th to 31st.
Several award-winning films among hundreds of international movies will be screened for the first time during the event.
The Shoplifters
The films will give the audience insight into the global contemporary cinema scene, with diverse dimensions of culture, society and people of each country where the films were made. The screenings will take place at the National Cinema Center, Kim Dong Movie Theatre, CGV Vincom Center, and BHD Star Vincom Cinema.
A Fantastic Woman
“Shoplifters” tells the story of a family, where love guides its small-time crook members through difficulties. It was premiered in Japan in June 2018 and raked in USD37.8 million, becoming one of the highest-grossing films in the market this year.
Meanwhile, “A Fantastic Woman” won the 2018 Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year./.
