(CPV) - The 8th European-Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival 2017 will present documentary films from Vietnam and ten European countries including Amy, the incredible story of six-time Grammy-winner Amy Winehouse, directed by BAFTA award-winning Asif Kapadia.

The event is one of a series of annual cultural festivals organised by European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) to promote better understanding between the people of Vietnam and Europe.

Featuring extensive unseen archival footage and previously unheard tracks from the singer, Amy is a strikingly modern, moving and vital film which shines a light on our culture and the world we live in today, in a way that very few can.

A once-in-a-generation talent, Amy Winehouse was a musician that captured the world’s attention with her unforgettable voice and charisma. A pure jazz artist in the most authentic sense, Amy poured her heart and soul into her music, expressing personal struggles and pain through her intimate lyrics. The combination of her raw honesty and virtuosity resulted in some of the most unique and popular songs of our time.

Amy received 33 nominations and has won a total of 30 film awards, including:

• Best Documentary at the 69th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA)

• Best Documentary Feature at the 88th Academy Awards (OSCAR)

• Best European Documentary at the 28th European Film Awards

• Best Music Film at the 58th Grammy Awards

• Best Documentary at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards

Each night between June 9th - 18th in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city, audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy one Vietnamese documentary film followed by one European film. On June 12th, Amy will proudly follow the Vietnamese documentary Story of Yesterday, a film about the inspiring singer-songwriter Tran Lap and the rock band The Wall throughout its 21 years of formation and development.
