Export turnover to Laos rises sharply

Vietnam - Laos trade turnover reached about USD97.4 million in the first two months of 2019, a year -on-year rise of 20.26%, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Center for Industrial and Commercial Information.
Iron and steel products are among major exported items to Laos
Major commodities imported from Laos are petrol and oil, iron and steel, transport vehicles, and products from iron and steel; occupying about 40.84% of the total; in which petrol and oil made up the highest proportion with USD12.8 million.
Vietnam is now the third largest trade partner of Laos, after Thailand and China.
Now, the Lao government is removing regulations and complex procedures, reducing time to establish enterprises, cutting tax and improving infrastructure; contributing to perfecting the business and investment environment in order to attract more foreign investment, especially capital from Vietnam./.
