Of this, export value of major agricultural products was estimated at USD8.25 billion, up 9.6%, exports of fishery products were valued at USD3.12 billion, up 9.7%, and exports of main forestry products bagged USD3.4 billion, up 8.7%.
Specifically, rice export volume reached an estimated 2.66 million tons, valued at USD1.45 billion, up 13.9% in volume and up 40% in value compared to the same period last year. China continued to rank first among importers of Vietnamese rice in the first four months, with a 33.5% market share.
Export value of wood and wooden products in the five months posted USD3.3 billion, up 8.2% over a year earlier. The US, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea were the four biggest importers of Vietnam’s wood and wooden products in the first four months, accounting for 78.1% of the total export turnover of the commodity.
Seafood export turnover was estimated at USD3.12 billion, a year-on-year rise of 9.7%. The US, Japan, China and the Republic of Korea were the biggest markets importing Vietnamese seafood, making up 52.7% of the total.
During the period, cashew recorded significant increase in export volume and value, with 139,000 tons valued at USD1.37 billion, up 19.1% in volume and 22.9% in value.
However, the Ministry said some commodities witnessed decline in export value such as rubber at USD620 million (down 12.4%) and tea at USD68 million (down 10.1%)./.
