Five months: Fisheries export earns USD3.2 billion

In May, the fisheries export gained an estimated value of USD728 million, bringing the sector's total export value in the first 5 months to USD3.2 billion, a year-on-year reduction of 1.7%, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has reported.

Japan, the US, China and the Republic of Korea are the leading importers of Vietnamese fisheries, as they imported 53.7% of Vietnamese fisheries export value. In the initial months of this year, markets with sharp increase of fisheries export value included Mexico (31.7%), Malaysia (22.7%), the Philippines (17.9%) and Canada (10%).
According to MARD, the import value of fisheries in the first 5 months this year was estimated to reach USD735 million, a year-on-year increase of 5.3%.
Of which, Norway is the largest fisheries importer, accounting for 11.9% of the value, followed by India, China and Japan, with 11.5%, 8.7% and 7.6%, respectively./.
