The rise is based on a 1.73% rise in food prices that made catering and restaurant services soar 0.61% over a month earlier. Most goods in the group recorded price increases: pork 4.31%, beef 0.29%, chicken 1.61% and poultry 2.34%.

Northern localities facing hot days led to high power consumption, pushing prices of housing, utilities, fuel and building materials up by 0.74% from June.

Contrary to the two commodity groups increasing; transport, medicine and health services saw price reduction.

Specifically, the average petrol and oil price decrease contributed to a 0.77% decline in the transport group against last month. The adjustment of prices of inpatient and outpatient services under Circular 15/2018/TT-BYT dated May 30th, 2018, led to a 3.48% decrease in medicine and health care services.

This month, the price index of gold declined 1.92%, while that of the USD surged 0.83% from the previous month./.
