HCM city, Britain cooperate to develop smart city

(CPV) - A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to carry out the smart ticket card system for public transport has been signed between the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh city and the city Department of Transport.

In addition, the British Consulate General and the city Department of Construction also signed another MoU to implement the geographic information system for the drainage network.  

At the event, Mr. Ian Gibbon, Consul General to Ho Chi Minh city, said the two deals are expected to contribute to realizing the plan of building smart city and solving existing problems like traffic jams and flooding; helping the city develop sustainably in the near future.

He added the signing of the MoUs shows the good cooperative relations which have been developing continuously over the past time, while hoping that there will be more cooperative projects between Vietnam and the UK in general and Ho Chi Minh city in particular in the coming time.

Ngo Minh Chau, Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee, hailed the contributions of Mr. Ian Gibbons in developing the cooperation while pledging that the city will create conditions to realize the two deals; creating a premise for many other projects.

Besides the smart city developing project, the city now focuses on building the first financial center in Vietnam and a renovation center, Mr Chau added./.
