Over 200 firms from Taiwan (China) seek market expansion in Vietnam

More than 200 enterprises from Taiwan (China) and 100 domestic firms participated in Taiwan (China) Expo and an international fair about agricultural machinery, equipment and after-harvest technology recently held in Ho Chi Minh city.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Phuong Dong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh city Department of Industry and Trade, said since the beginning of the year, the export value of Vietnam’s major agricultural products reached nearly USD11 billion, a year-on-year rise of 9.7%.

Of this, agricultural products enjoying sharp increase in export turnover are rice USD1.81 billion (up 42.2%), fruits and vegetable USD2 billion (20.3%), and cashew USD1.7 billion (up 16.4%).

Commenting on the Vietnam technology market, a representative from the Association of Taiwan (China) Trade Promotion said that Vietnam is the most active market in ASEAN and is Taiwan’s (China) fifth biggest trade partner.

In the near future, Taiwanese (Chinese) companies will focus their investment in food processing technology, eco-friendly technology and e-commerce in Vietnam./.
