Quang Ninh celebrates 50 years since Uncle Ho’s meeting with mine workers

The northern province of Quang Ninh has celebrated the 50th anniversary of Uncle Ho’s meeting with delegates, workers and officials of the coal industry (November 15th, 1968) and honored outstanding individuals.

In his speech at the event, Mr. Nguyen Van Doc, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, said the meeting of Uncle Ho’s 50 years ago showed his affection to mining workers that become a historical milestone for the following development path of the coal industry.

Mr. Le Minh Chuan, Head of the Board of Members of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin), said President Ho Chi Minh paid much attention to Quang Ninh and the coal industry. He visited mining areas and workers in Quang Ninh 9 times.

Specifically, on November 15th, 1968, at the meeting with 30 workers with outstanding achievements, he advised the coal industry to unite and have full sense of ownership of the country, master enterprises and overcome all difficulties; aiming at a common goal of producing a lot of coal for the country.  

Remembering Uncle Ho’s teachings, over the past 50 years, mine workers overcame difficulties and worked hard and creatively to build Vinacomin into a strong economic group of Vietnam which has good relations with many partners domestically and internationally.

Compared to 1995 when Vietnam National Coal Corporation was established, the group’s revenue increased 61 times, owner's equity increased 40 times and state budget payment rose 137 times./.
