Rice exports to Malaysia see sudden increase

With the impressive growth, rice ranked fourth among Vietnam’s five commodity exports to Malaysia earning over USD100 million, including telephone and components; computers, electronic products and spare parts; iron and steel of all kinds; rice; glass and glass products.

Vietnamese Commercial Counselor to Malaysia Pham Quoc Anh said the sharp growth came from the decrease in supply from other countries and the promotion of export of fragrant rice, in which Vietnam has price advantage on the market.

In addition, trade promotion activities for the commodity, including joining fairs, exhibitions on agricultural products, food and programs to connect businesses with Malaysian businesses were intensified with the support of commercial affairs agencies./.
