In the first half of the year, tuna export was valued at USD271 million, a year-on-year rise of 21%, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP).

Tuna exports to main markets accounted for 88% of the country's total

Most markets importing Vietnamese tuna products saw growth. Eight major markets - the US, the EU, Israel, ASEAN, Japan, Canada, China and Mexico - made up 88% of the country's total tuna export value.

Notably, tuna export to Mexico enjoyed impressive growth of 125%, surpassing Canada and China to become Vietnam's sixth biggest market.

Currently, Vietnam's tuna products were exported to 97 markets worldwide.

According to VASEP, due to tuna price in the world market rising sharply, consumption demand of some main markets is influenced, with export growth speed being slow. However, exports to small markets like Israel, Mexico and Canada still increased./.
