VSIP Quang Ngai licenses four new projects

The Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) in the central province of Quang Ngai on January 9th granted licenses to new foreign investors from Belgium, Singapore, Japan and the Republic of Korea, with a total capital of USD321 million.

The newly-licensed projects include a USD125-million steel wire plant, invested by the Belgium’s Bekaert Vietnam; a USD138-million eyeglass lens production facility by Japan’s Hoya Lens Vietnam; a USD48-million production plant by Singapore’s Happy Furniture Vietna, and a USD10-million mattress manufacturing and processing plant by the Republic of Korea’s Gesin Vietnam.

These projects raised the total capital into VSIP Quang Ngai to USD733 million from 25 investors. Once all projects are put into operation, they will create jobs for 35,000 workers.

On this occasion, VSIP Quang Ngai presented 80 scholarships worth VND100 million to poor students in Son Tinh district and Quang Ngai city.

Quang Ngai is the fifth among the VSIP system nationwide, including VSIP in Binh Duong, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Hai Duong and Nghe An, with a total area of 7,400 hectares. So far, VSIP has attracted more than 800 investors capitalized with USD13 billion and created about 240,000 jobs./.
