Ho Chi Minh city meets overseas Vietnamese from Laos and Thailand

The Ho Chi Minh city Union of Friendship Organizations and the Liaison Committee for Vietnamese in Laos and Thailand (LCV) organized an annual meeting to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Dog on February 25th.

The meeting, attracting nearly 400 overseas Vietnamese, having lived and worked in Laos and Thailand, and aimed to create conditions for overseas Vietnamese to exchange and review activities of LCV over the past year.

At the meeting, Mr. Hoang Ngoc Hung, Head of LCV, said that LCV is always a bridge for overseas Vietnamese in Laos and Thailand. Last year, ít made various practical contributions to friendship, especially people diplomacy, which overseas Vietnamese believed in and supported.

Apart from organizing exchanges among overseas Vietnamese, meeting on the occasion of the National Day, Pimay - Soongkrank traditional festival of Laos and Thailand, LCV has also actively participated in social charitable programs such as supporting disabled children in Ho Chi Minh city and natural calamity victims.

Mr. Hung affirmed that CLV’s activities over the past year have contributed to strengthening the friendship with Consulate Generals of Laos and Thailand in Ho Chi Minh city, boosting the mutual understanding between Vietnamese people and Lao - Thai people.

Mr. Huynh Minh Thien, Head of the Ho Chi Minh city Union of Friendship Organizations, highly appreciated the activities of CLV, especially connection between those who had lived and worked in Laos and Thailand and overseas Vietnamese in the two countries. He hoped that the overseas Vietnamese would continue to promote their strength to successfully implement the socio-economic targets in 2018.

On this occasion, the CLV presented longevity gifts to old people./.
