Speaking at the event, Ms. Hoang Thai Lan, Head of the Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association, said that the Slavic Writing and Cultural Day was to commemorate two saints Cyril and Mephodi, who set up the first Slavonic alphabet.

Over many centuries of coexistence with the Bulgarian culture, Slavic writing has now become a widely used script.

She said, “In Slavic language, we learned and absorbed the scientific knowledge and quintessence of the Slavic peoples, where we were trained to return to Vietnam to build the country and cultural spirit of Vietnam today.”

Russia’s Consul General Aleksei Vladimirovich Popov said that the beginning of Slavic writing was a particularly important milestone in the history of each nation and in their cultural history.

Currently, there are about 60 groups of people whose writings are based on the origin of the Cyril script.

The event in Ho Chi Minh city has become a good tradition, contributing to the friendship and cooperation development between the two countries./.
