Vietnamese Buddhism Association in RoK organizes requiem for martyrs

(CPV) - A great ceremony to pray for safe and sound for the overseas Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea (RoK), a requiem for martyrs sacrificed for the independence, freedom and sovereignty of the nation, and recognition of the Vietnamese Buddhism Association in RoK, was held on March 11th at Phung An Pagoda, Seoul capital.

Overview of the ceremony

Speaking at the event, Buddhist nun Thich Nu Gioi Tanh said that the ceremony was to pray for peace, safe and sound, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity for the nation and people, and luck, solidarity and happiness for the overseas Vietnamese community in RoK. This is also an opportunity for the overseas Vietnamese community in RoK to remember the ancestors’ good turns and commemorate martyrs sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the nation.

At the event, a representative from the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Central Committee announced a decision to recognize the Vietnamese Buddhist Association in the RoK as a member of the VBS and Buddhist nun Thich Nu Gioi Tanh as its head.

Buddhist nun Thich Nu Gioi Tanh thanked the VBS and pledged to accompany other Vietnamese associations in the RoK to build a strong overseas Vietnamese community and significantly contribute to the development of the relations of the two countries.

At the end of the ceremony, the participants offered incense and released flower garlands to commemorate the fallen, and prayed for a New Year of peace and prosperity./.
