Can Tho well prepares for APEC 2017 events

The city assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with relevant agencies to well organize local events, especially attaching importance to communication, security and food hygiene and safety; intensifying trade promotion, tourism advertising; and introducing technology in the agricultural sector.

Specifically, the city will organize fairs and exhibitions on clean and safe agricultural products; exhibition of typical models of technological application to agriculture; and coordinate with An Giang and Dong Thap provinces to design specific tours of the Mekong Delta’s waterways in combination with visiting agricultural production models and green tourism sites.

The city urged the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to quickly issue plans on organizing the High Level Policy Dialogue on Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture in Response to Climate Change and proposed the APEC Secretariat arrange a bilateral meeting between the city and leaders of member economies to discuss and seek opportunities to call investment in the locality.  

On this occasion, the Trade and Investment Promotion Centre and Can Tho Exhibition Fair will organize a clean and safe agricultural fair from August 20^th to 24^th with about 300 kiosks.

The High Level Policy Dialogue on Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture in Response to Climate Change will adopt three important documents: Multi-year Action Plan for implementation of the APEC framework program on food security and climate change, Multi-Year Action Plan for implementation of rural development, sustainable urban area and food security, and Can Tho Declaration on enhancing food security and sustainable agricultural development in adaptation to climate change./.
