Da Nang city makes plan to deal with possible natural disaster during APEC

The Da Nang city People’s Committee on November 1st had a meeting with the working delegation from the Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention to make preparations for coping with any possible natural disaster during the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week which will be held in the city from November 6th-11th.

The meeting was organized as rain had been reported on a large scale from October 30th to November 1st in Da Nang city and Quang Nam province.

According to Hoang Van Thang, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Standing Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention, the bad weather forecast in the upcoming days may cause inconvenience for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week. Several day-long torrential rain and flooding is likely to occur in central localities, including Da Nang and Quang Nam. “Making plans to cope with possible natural disaster during the week is crucial,” he said.

To prepare for the situation, Da Nang city on November 1st issued a plan on coping with bad weather during the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, which has been disseminated to agencies, departments and localities for more detailed action plans. In addition, natural disaster prevention forces will be on duty around the clock to be ready to cope with possible natural disasters.

The city has also prepared plans, human resources and facilities to cope with any flooding in central Da Nang city./.
