The money has been spent building and repairing nearly 1.5 million houses for poor and disadvantaged families; giving loans and production material assistance to tens of millions of poor families; and providing thousands of welfare constructions. Additionally, millions of poor people have been assisted during lunar New Year festivals, with educational and medical fees.

From 2018 to 2020, the program will be broadcast live on national television on the Day for the Poor (October 17th), in order to encourage people, businesses, agencies and sponsors to continue to donate money for supporting the poor, ensuring social welfare and sustainable development. The collected money will be prioritized to poor communities in border areas, localities affected by natural disasters and unfavourable weather conditions, as well as dangerous diseases.

To mark the Day for the Poor, the Ministry of Information and Communications has launched a message program mobilizing VND20,000 for each text message with content VNN sent to 1409, from October 1st to December 31st.

The 2017 live broadcast program for the poor received nearly VND280 billion from 104 businesses, agencies and individuals in support of poor people./.
