Over VND16.5 billion to support disabled people and orphans

Over VND16.5 billion was raised in support of disabled people and orphans during an art performance on April 12th.

The art performance “One Heart - One World” was held for the 14th time by the Association for the Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor, War-Invalids and Social Affairs, gathering outstanding disabled people from different parts of the country.

They were Ms Nguyen Thi Dai Trang, a disabled person from Ha Tinh province and a restaurant owner who creates jobs for 30 laborers with an income of VND4-15 million each per month; Ms Bui Thi Kim Chi, an orphan from Hanoi and a student of the University of Science and Technology who makes great efforts in study; Mr Le Thanh Hai, deputy director of the Babeeni Company (Hai Duong province branch) who gives vocational training to 110 disabled people and provides jobs for 59 other people with disabilities; and others.

“One Heart - One World”, an annual program, aims to raise awareness on problems of disabled people, praise outstanding disabled persons and honour sponsors. It also encourages donations to the Association for the Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans so that the organization can carry out activities raising the quality of life for disabled people and orphans across the country.

Over the past 25 years, the Association for the Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans has mobilized over VND2.523 trillion to assist over 9.8 million people with healthcare, education, vehicles, livelihood and poverty reduction./.
