Quang Tri province actively prevents petechial fever

The health sector has disseminated preventive measures through the mass media; sprayed chemicals to sanitise the environment in residential areas; and accelerated the campaign on killing mosquitoes and larva. In Huong Hoa and Dakrong mountainous districts, the health sector has soaked mosquito nets in chemical to prevent people from being bitten by mosquitoes, and educated residents on the importance of sleeping under mosquito nets.

Truong Huu Thien, Director of the Dong Ha city Health Centre, said that being one of the localities reporting the largest number of petechial fever cases, apart from disseminating the disease prevention in mass media, the centre has distributed fliers and CDs to residents, and trained health workers at the grassroots level and teachers on how to effectively prevent the disease.

The number of petechial fever cases has increased significantly in Quang Tri province. Since the beginning of this year, over 400 cases have been reported across 9 of 10 localities, while the figure in 2015 was only 155 cases./.
