Accordingly, each winning pupil at secondary and high schools will receive a scholarship worth VND1 million, while primary school pupils received scholarships worth VND800,000 each.

Truong My Hoa, former Vice State President, President of Vu A Dinh scholarship fund and Head of the “For beloved Spratly and Paracel Islands” Club, said that for the past 17 years, the Vu A Dinh scholarship fund presented over 80,000 scholarships to ethnic minority pupils across the country, in order to encourage disadvantaged children to continue their schooling and nurture their dreams.

At present, the fund is carrying out 4 projects assisting poor ethnic minority pupils going to school, and building schools, bridges and rural roads, facilitating pupils’ travel to school.

The Fund “For beloved Spratly and Paracel Islands”, established in August 2015, with 55 collectives participating, has helped create better conditions for thousands of pupils, who are fishermen’s children and children of soldiers protecting the nation’s sea and island sovereignty, to go to school.

In 2017, the Vu A Dinh scholarship fund will present 5,000 scholarships and the fund “For beloved Spratly and Paracel Islands” will award 2,300 scholarships to ethnic minority pupils and those in coastal and island regions nationwide.

There are some 200,000 pupils in Tra Vinh province, including over 50,000 Khmer ethnic minority pupils. Over the past years, some 60-70 pupils in the province receive Vu A Dinh scholarships each year. As a result, many poor Khmer ethnic minority pupils have overcome difficulties to study and become helpful individuals in society./.
