Tourists permit the growth of the economy, says Peruvian delegate

On the occassion of the High Level Policy Dialogue on Sustainable Tourism in Ha Long city on June 2017, reporter of the Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper interviewed a delegate of Peru, on his opinion about sustainable tourism.

Peruvian delegate: Obviously, sustainable tourism can be so important in this world, because the tourists permit the growth of the economy, permit increased employment, and obviously promote the conservation of biological diversity.

Reporter: So, from your experience, what did you do to phase in and to promote sustainable tourism in your country?

Peruvian delagate: We have long experience in conserving the different places for sustainable tourism and we are here sharing our experiences. And we have now different interpretations, and other countries, they have other experiences. In our case, Peru has international experience that is the conservation of Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu is  a big area – a natural area and a cultural area – and this is so important because Machu Picchu is an example in the world, and we can share and we can maintain  the mix between the tourism and, obviously, the conservation of the area.

Reporter: What would be your advise to Vietnam?

Peruvian delegate: In our case, I think that Peru has experience, but I would like just to share experience about the sustainable tourism. Don't forget that biological diversity is so important in this work , and for that reason my tip, my counsel, is just conserving it.

Reporter: How about Halong Bay, do you have some suggestions?

Peruvian delegate: Halong Bay is an example of the natural heritage of the world, and for me its so important to be here because I want to share, I want to know your experience, and obviously it is an example for the world.
