Da Nang sets up Department of Tourism

On May 17th, the Da Nang city People’s Committee announced its decision establishing the Department of Tourism, on the foundation of separating the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in order to better manage the developing tourism industry.

The establishment received the Prime Minister’s nod in principle and was approved by the municipal People’s Council (term 8), tenure 2011-2016.

Mr. Ngo Quang Vinh, former Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, was appointed to be Director of the Department of Tourism. Mr. Huynh Van Hung, Director of the Da Nang Radio - Television Station, was assigned as Director of the Department of Culture and Sports.


In addition, the municipal People’s Committee also appointed six Deputy Directors for the two separated Departments. Initially, personnel of the two Departments would be based on the workforce of the old Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to be added during the operation process.

Deputy Directors of the Department of Tourism include: Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, former Deputy Director of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh, former Director of Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center; Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, former Head of Accommodation Providers Management Division of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Deputy Directors of the Department of Culture and Sports include: Mr. Nguyen Huu Chien, former Deputy Director of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Nguyen Phuc Linh, former Deputy Director of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoi An, Headmaster of Da Nang Art-Culture College, was announced to be Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports. 

Earlier, Ho Chi Minh city, Hanoi and Quang Ninh also established Departments of Tourism./.
