Australia, Singapore strengthen cooperative relations

Three leading Australian Ministers including Foreign Minister Julie Bishop; Defence Minister Marise Payne and Trade, Tourism and Investment Minister Steven Ciobo have visited Singapore from August 21st - 22nd to attend a high-level bilateral dialogue.

As scheduled, the Australian Ministers will meet Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to discuss ways for the two countries to work together even closer, bilaterally and through regional forums including the East Asia Summit and ASEAN Regional Forum.

Apart from reviewing bilateral cooperation efforts, including the implementation of the Singapore - Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, they will also exchange views on international and regional political, economic and security developments.

Singapore is a key partner for Australia in Southeast Asia. It is Australia's largest trade and investment partner in the region and the fifth largest trading partner overall.

The two countries hold joint military exercises and cooperate closely on defence intelligence, science and technology./.
