Cuba marks anniversary of Fidel's death

A number of activities were ỏganised on November 24th across Cuba to mark the second anniversary of the death of revolutionary leader Fidel Castro (25/11/2016 - 25/11/2018).

Ceremonies marking the anniversary were scheduled across the Caribbean island.

Among other things, a gala titled “Siempre Fidel” was also held on the emblematic stairway of the University of Havana, where Castro himself studied law at the university, later saying that he became a revolutionary during that period.

The evening was attended by artists of different manifestations, who joined through songs, verses and dances to remember the legacy of Fidel Castro.

Besides, a number of activities to honor Revolutionary leader Fidel Castro were also organized around the world.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez said via Twitter, in the first of a series of posts remembering his predecessor and mentor: "Fidel planned and organized the Revolution, he led it, he fought and triumphed; he rescued the dignity of the country and forged a work of emancipation without precedent. He resolutely confronted imperialism, he grew up with his people and for many reasons he will always be with us.”

Fidel Castro devoted all of his life to Cuba’s revolutionary cause, overturning the dictatorial regime and bringing the Cuban people to the era of independence and freedom since January 1959. He died in Havana of natural causes on November 25th, 2016 at the age of 90./.
