"The visit will take place “this fall”, she said at a press conference, “We are now at the stage of careful elaboration of conditions and details.”

Matviyenko said her aides are discussing the exact timetable of the visit with officials of the DPRK and the RoK.

The DPRK’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ri Yong-ho and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on May 31st held a meeting at the headquarters of the Supreme People’s Assembly in Pyongyang.

In the meeting, Mr. Ri said the DPRK welcomed the visit by speaker of Russian Federation Council soon.

In Pyongyang, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov paid tribute to the two former leaders, Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, laying wreaths at their statues after his arrival.

Mr. Lavrov passed on good wishes to leader Kim Jong-un from Russian President Vladimir Putin and invited him to visit Moscow.

“Come to Russia. We would be very happy to see you,” Mr. Lavrov, said.

He expressed Moscow’s support for the declaration between the DPRK and the RoK in April, in which they agreed to work for the denuclearisation of the peninsula.

The DPRK and Russia are marking the 70th anniversary of their establishment of diplomatic relations this year./.
