Prime Minister directs active control of new Omicron variant

The Government Office has just issued Official Letter 8706/VPCP-KGVX dated November 29, 2021 conveying the direction of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the control of the new Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The official dispatch stated that recently, the world has recorded a new strain of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, Omicron, which is spreading rapidly to many countries around the world. In order to proactively control, prevent and fight the pandemic, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the Ministry of Health to actively monitor the situation of the pandemic caused by the new Omicron variant; regularly discuss with the World Health Organization to update information timely and accurately about this mutation, and on that basis, propose timely, appropriate and effective plans and measures to prevent and control the pandemic in line with the situation.

The Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defense and relevant ministries and agencies, are responsible for strengthening control of those who go through countries that have detected new cases of Omicron infections and enter Vietnam, to prevent the variant’s entrance and spread into Vietnam./.
