Vietnam continues to support Laos in operating new National Assembly building

At a meeting with Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Sommad Pholsena on December 7, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh affirmed that Vietnam will continue to support Laos in operating Laos' new National Assembly Building, a project symbolizing the countries’ special solidarity and friendship relationship.

During the meeting, the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister congratulated the Lao Party, State and people on their great achievements of historical significance during the past 46 years, especially after 35 years of renovation. Emphasizing that the Vietnamese Party, Government and people always attach great importance to consolidating and strengthening the friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, he affirmed that he would do his best to contribute to consolidating and developing the relationship that has been cultivated by generations of leaders of the two countries.

For his part, Lao NA Vice Chairman Sommad Pholsena thanked the Vietnamese Party, State, and people for consistently supporting and assisting his country in socio-economic development.

In particular, he noted, they helped Laos build the new NA building which was put into operation last August.

The Lao NA Vice Chairman, who is also head of the steering committee for the Lao NA building project, expressed his hope that Vietnam will continue cooperating with and helping his country to operate this building. He also suggested the commendation of collectives and individuals with considerable contributions to this project.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh said this building is critically important to bilateral cooperation and serves as a symbol of the countries’ special solidarity, noting that Vietnam will continue helping Laos with the building operation and maintenance.

“The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction has also been asked to continue working closely with the Lao side to complete procedures and reward those with substantial contributions to the project,” he added./.
