Program to digitize Vietnamese cultural heritage in 2021-2030 period

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has signed Decision 2026/QD-TTg dated December 2, 2021 approving the Program to digitize Vietnamese Cultural Heritage in the 2021-2030 period.

The program aims to build a national database system on cultural heritage on a unified digital technology platform, serving the work of archiving, management, research, conservation, exploitation and promoting sustainable tourism development; ensuring integration into the e-Government architectural framework and the digitized Vietnamese Knowledge System; promoting digital transformation, implementing national digital data interoperability on cultural heritage, ensuring effective service for society and community anytime, anywhere.

Specific goals for the 2021-2030 period: 100% of tangible, intangible and documentary cultural heritages will be registered by UNESCO; 100% of special national heritages will be digitized and applied on digital platforms; 100% of national treasures and heritages in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List will be digitized and applied on digital platforms; prioritize the digitization according to the needs of society for the use of national monuments and artifacts and groups of artifacts at museums and monument management boards; and 100% of professional workers in the cultural heritage fields will be trained and updated with digital transformation knowledge and skills.

To achieve the above objectives, one of the tasks and solutions of the Program is to perfect mechanisms, policies and legal regulations. Specifically, develop, perfect and promulgate standards and technical regulations on digital cultural heritage and apply technology in digitizing information, standardizing cultural heritage data systems in national data warehouses; connecting, communicating, sharing information and data with the fields of museums and libraries; establishing the right to access, exploit and use information and data for organizations and individuals to serve tourism development and other domestic and international needs./.
