Bac Ninh overcomes COVID-19 to gain increasing socio-economic indicators

The regular meeting of the Bac Ninh People’s Committee in June 2021 focused on discussing and giving opinions on the socio-economic situation report in the first half and tasks and solutions for the second half in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic.

According to Director of the Bac Ninh Department of Planning and Investment, in the context of complicated developments of the COVID-19 epidemic, the northern province issued many documents and policies to further manage and remove difficulties for production and business.

It also urgently carried out synchronous measures with unprecedented creativity to effectively control the epidemic and determined to realize the “dual goal”.

Many socio-economic indicators in the first half increased over the same period last year, such as: Gross domestic product (GRDP) expanding about 7.45%; state budget revenue increasing 7.5%; industrial production index rising 11.8%; and commodity exports soaring 29.7%.

The locality also received approval of the Government leader to invest in 5 concentrated industrial zones. The provincial People’s Committee decided to establish 4 concentrated industrial parks and 2 industrial clusters.

Public administration reform has been promoted and the Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI) ranked 4th out of 63 (up 46 places), bringing Bac Ninh back among the five provinces with the highest scores.

For the tasks of the second half, Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Huong Giang asked agencies and units to implement synchronous solutions to well meet the dual goals of fighting the epidemic and removing difficulties for production to help enterprises to resume operation./.
