Vietnam’s forestry products see a trade surplus of over 3 billion USD

Vietnam’s wooden products continued to gain trade surplus from the beginning of the year with more than 3 billion USD, reported the Vietnam Administration of Forestry.

According to the administration, in March, export value of wood and forestry products reached an estimated 1.524 billion USD, bringing the total figure for the first three months to 3.944 billion USD, a year-on-year rise of 41.5%. Of this, exports of wood and wooden products reached 3.699 billion USD, up 41.5%; while non-timber products were valued at 243 million USD, up 38.4%.

The main wood and forest products export markets include: the United States, Japan, China, the EU and the Republic of Korea, which account for 90% of the total export value of timber and forest products.

In addition, Vietnamese businesses are currently importing wood and forestry products from China, the United States, Cameroon, Thailand, and Chile, accounting for about 55% of the total value of imported wood and forest products in the three months.

Import value of wood and wooden products in March is estimated at 227 million USD. Accordingly, the figure in the first three months reached 696 million USD, a year-on-year rise of 31%.

Generally, over the past 3 months, Vietnam’s forestry products and wooden products saw a trade surplus of 3.234 billion USD, an increase of 43.4%./.
