HCMC Department of Tourism has decided to delay the festival as a result of the ongoing situation relating to cases of acute respiratory disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).
Previously, the festival had been scheduled to take place on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street from March 6th to 22nd. However the nature of the developments relating to the COVID-19 epidemic has forced organisers to move the dates, with the event now set to be pushed back to April.
The postponement follows Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s call to stop organizing events like festivals that gather large crowds.
The festival is one of the city’s leading tourism and cultural events, attracting a lot of local and foreign tourists. The festival aims to honour the nation’s traditional costume and promote tourism in the southern city to both domestic and foreign guests./.
