Switzerland partners with Ho Chi Minh City to boost green economy and sustainable development

On November 11, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan met with a delegation from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the World Bank (WB), led by SECO Program Director Sybilly Bachmann. The meeting aimed to discuss collaborative efforts to support Ho Chi Minh City’s sustainable development based on green growth.

During the meeting, Vice Chairman Vo Van Hoan emphasized Ho Chi Minh City’s goal for sustainable economic development, expressing a desire to strengthen cooperation with international partners, especially SECO and the WB, to maximize the city’s green growth potential.

In the past three years, Ho Chi Minh City and the WB have established three main cooperative groups: economic support, advisory support, and investment project groups through the WB, creating a foundation for strategic development projects in the city. Notably, the Green Economy Forum has provided opportunities for Ho Chi Minh City to attract more foreign enterprises, particularly in technology and sustainable industry sectors.

He expressed hope for continued support from the Swiss Government and international organizations to facilitate cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and the WB.

Sybilly Bachmann shared her pleasure in returning to Ho Chi Minh City and commended the progress made by the city and the WB in economic development programs. Bachmann affirmed SECO's commitment to supporting essential policies and encouraging investment in Ho Chi Minh City, working alongside the WB to promote a green economy and sustainable development in the city./.
