During the meeting, Vice Chairman Vo Van Hoan expressed his gratitude to the Cambodian government for sending a delegation to the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum. He also appreciated the deep neighboring relationship between the two countries and believed that this visit would further enhance the understanding of the people, culture and life in the city. From this, both sides could come up with solutions to promote investment, trade, cultural cooperation and people-to-people diplomacy between Vietnam and Cambodia, particularly between Ho Chi Minh City and Cambodian localities.
He suggested that the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center and the Department of Foreign Affairs collaborate with the Cambodian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City to review and create specific action programs for cooperation in areas such as economics, trade, investment, tourism and human resource development between Ho Chi Minh City and Cambodian localities. He also proposed that Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia take turns organizing large-scale trade and investment fairs, displaying and introducing high-quality products from each country, and establishing distribution networks in each nation for mutual development.
At the meeting, Deputy Secretary of State Bong Sovath shared that the Cambodian government is focusing on five key economic development goals: people, human resources, building roads, electricity, and water supply. In particular, there is a strong emphasis on human resource training, with a need for 1.5 million information technology professionals in underdeveloped localities. Additionally, the government is committed to preserving Cambodia's culture and heritage.
He also expressed his desire to cooperate in strengthening investment, trade, tourism, human resource training and people-to-people diplomacy between Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh, as well as other Cambodian localities, thereby fostering the traditional friendship between the two regions and between Vietnam and Cambodia as a whole./.
