Vietnamese Communist Party delegation attends Communist Party of India’s 24th Congress

From October 14-18, in Vijayawada city, Andhra Pradesh state, India, the Communist Party of India (CPI) held its 24th Congress with the participation of 960 delegates and 12 national delegations.

The CPV delegation led by Lam Van Man, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee, attended the Congress.

The Congress discussed and approved a Political Resolution, identifying four key tasks, including continuing to strengthen and improving the capacity of the Party; strengthening solidarity in the leftist movement of India; extending coalition building of progressive forces; and continuing to fight for the legitimate interests of the working people.

The Congress elected 125 members of the National Council, 31 members of the CPI Central Committee and 11 members of the Politburo. Comrade Doraisamy Raja was elected as General Secretary of the CPI Central Committee, term XXIV.

The head of the CPV delegation delivered a welcome speech and presented a congratulatory message from the CPV Central Committee to the CPI General Secretary.

During a reception, CPI General Secretary thanked the CPV for sending the delegation to the Congress, and highly appreciated the role, prestige and leadership experience of the CPV, considering Vietnam's renewal achievements as an ancient source of inspiration in the common struggle of the world's people for peace, national independence, democracy and social progress; and expressed his wish to further strengthen the solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the two Parties in particular and between the peoples of the two countries in general.

During the time of attending the Congress, the CPV delegation had contacts and exchanges with a number of leaders of political parties in the world, including General Secretary of the Communist Party of India Marxist; Chairperson of Communist Party of Bangladesh; Vice Chairperson of Communist Party of Nepal United Marxist-Leninist (CPN-UML); Secretary of Central Committee of Communist Party of Portugal and other parties, and learned more about world situations, regional situations, the situation of ruling, communist and left-wing Parties, and exchanged measures to promote Party relations and strengthen cooperation between localities, and information on the situation of socio-economic development in Vietnam./.
