The meeting took place in the context of Dr. Phan Kieu Thu, Vietnamese Consul General in Vancouver, Canada, having just arrived to take up her duties.
Consul General Thu informed overseas Vietnamese about news in the homeland as well as the achievements that Vietnam has made in recent times.
At the same time, the Consul General informed about the content of the informal meeting with the Provincial Governor, Provincial Premier and Consul General delegation in Vancouver, as well as the priorities that the Vietnamese Consulate General in Vancouver will focus on implementation in many fields of economics, culture, import and export.
Consul General Phan Kieu Thu said that there are many opportunities to continue promoting Vietnam's, and Vietnamese businesses’ cooperative relationship with Canada and British Colombia.
On this occasion, Consul General Phan Kieu Thu thanked the Vietnam - Canada Business Association (VCBA) for wholeheartedly helping prepare to welcome the delegation of leaders of Ha Tinh, Yen Bai, and Thua Thien Hue provinces, and 73 members of domestic businesses to Vancouver to attend a seminar on trade and investment promotion in from April 25-27.
Thanking people for their contributions, Ms. Thu said that the opinions expressed are very profound and substantive, and hoped that in the near future, the embassy will continue to receive comments from overseas Vietnamese.
She affirmed that she will cooperate with overseas Vietnamese to remove obstacles as well as organize many effective activities to tighten solidarity between the Vietnamese community and promote the image of Vietnam to Canadian friends and the world, and at the same time join hands to build a beautiful and powerful Vietnam.
Responding to comments related to Vietnam's laws, the Consul General promised to forward people's comments to relevant domestic agencies, ministries and sectors.
At the end of the meeting, on the occasion of the beginning of Lunar New Year of the Dragon, Consul General Phan Kieu Thu sang songs about spring for overseas Vietnamese and received enthusiastic response from overseas Vietnamese./.
