Vietnamese Veterans’ Association in Ukraine marks its 5th anniversary

The Vietnamese Veterans’s Association in Ukraine recently organized an event to mark its 5th anniversary and the 74th anniversary of the Vietnamese Invalids’ and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2021).

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Vietnamese Veterans’s Association in Ukraine Nguyen Van Loan summarized the association's activities over the past five years. Although the association has not been established for a long time and has faced many difficulties in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has made efforts to build and consolidate and the organization, gradually bringing its activities into order and efficiency.

The association has actively cooperated with veterans associations of Odessa, Kharkov and Kiev provinces, supported the establishment of the Vietnamese Veterans Association in Mariupol - where Vietnamese veterans and relatives are living and working close to the war zone, and organized friendly exchanges with Ukrainian veterans.

On this occasion, Mr. Nguyen Van Loan pledged to make efforts so that veterans will always be the core force of the Vietnamese community in Ukraine.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine Nguyen Hong Thach acknowledged and highly appreciated the association's role in building the great national unity bloc and the development of the Vietnamese community in Ukraine.

The ambassador hopes that in the coming time, the veterans will perform well the soldiers’ role on the people's diplomatic front, acting as a bridge to tighten the solidarity between the army and people of Vietnam and Ukraine, being exemplary in all activities, promoting the spirit and good nature of Uncle Ho's soldiers.

At the event, Vietnam's Defense Attaché in Ukraine, Colonel Nguyen Quang Chien, read the congratulatory letter from the President of the Veterans Association of Vietnam, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duoc, sent to the Vietnamese Veterans’ Association in Ukraine on the occasion of its 5th anniversary. On behalf of the Veterans Association of Ukraine, President, Major General Volodimyr Popovych, delivered a congratulatory speech to the association, saying that Ukrainian veterans will never forget the good feelings the Vietnamese people have for them./.
