The Prime Minister has just approved the project extending the implementation of the Prime Minister’s decision adopting the project on increasing international cooperation to support socio-economic development in ethnic minority-inhabited areas to 2025.

The project will be implemented from 2021 - 2025 with a general goal to continue strengthening cooperation in attracting investment, science and technology and experiences from countries, international organizations, overseas collectives and individuals to support investment in socio-economic development for ethnic minority and mountainous regions, contributing to successful and effective implementation of the national target program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the 2021 - 2030 period.
By 2025, the project strives to attract maximum international resources, especially non-refundable aid, official development assistance (ODA) and preferential loans; encourage international investment for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas based on actual demand and each locality’s and group’s potentials and advantages, and on the principles of preserving and developing the traditional cultural values of each group, and protecting the environment.
The project also mobilizes technical support from international organizations and individuals to support capacity building for people in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; civil servants and public employees working in ethnic affairs from central to local levels.
The beneficiaries of the project are ethnic minority and mountainous areas under the national target program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021 - 2030.
Accordingly, the project will help solve the shortage of residential land, housing, productive land, and household water of ethnic minority people; develop agricultural and forestry production, to bring into play the potential and strengths of regions for commodity production in the value chain; invest in essential infrastructure for production and life in ethnic minority areas and public service agencies; invest in the development of education and training in ethnic minority and mountainous areas to improve the quality of human resources of ethnic minorities; invest in scientific research and technology transfer in value chain production link models; preserve and promote the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in association with tourism development; take care of people's health, improving the physical health of the ethnic minorities; prevent child malnutrition; and realize gender equality and solve urgent issues for women and children./.
