(CPV) - Foreign tourist arrivals to Vietnam reached over 833,000 in February 2016, up 3.5% from the previous month and 20% year on year, reported the General Statistics Office (GSO).
Of this, tourists arriving by air were 667,000, accounting for 80.1% of the total or a 11.2% increase over a month earlier, while those arriving by sea and road were nearly 12,000 (up 56.7%) and over 154,000 (up 76.9%), respectively.In total, foreign arrivals to the country in the first two months of the year were over 1.63 million, a year-on-year rise of 16%.

According to GSO, almost all markets sending tourists to Vietnam saw growth in the first two months, including Hong Kong-China (169.9%), China (48.8%), the Republic of Korea (31%), Italy (25.6%), Thailand (24.3%), Taiwan-China (23.8%), Malaysia (19.7%), England (19.6%), the Philippines (18.2%), Spain (17.1%), Sweden (16.4%), Germany (14.4%), the US (13.6%), Denmark (13.5%), the Netherlands (11.2%), Japan (11.1%), Singapore (10.6%) and Canada (10.4%).
Some markets seeing reductions were Cambodia (64%), New Zealand (2.6%) and Finland (0.9%).
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism reported that the country served 14.2 million domestic tourist arrivals in the two months, in which 6.8 million ones traveled overnight. Total tourism turnover reached an estimated VND80.68 trillion, up 19% against the same period last year./.
