The information has been revealed by Deputy Chairwoman of the HCM City People’s Committee Phan Thi Thang at a recent meeting with the city’s National Assembly (NA) delegation discussing COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control and the socio-economic situation in the first 9 months of 2021.

According to the leader of the city People’s Committee, this is the first step in reopening “inter-provincial” tourist routes. In the following week, the city will continue to work with some other provinces and cities to reopen tourist routes. She said that most people in the city are vaccinated with 2 doses of the vaccine and tour participants must ensure epidemic prevention measures.

The Deputy Chairwoman said that the Department of Tourism has organized a number of tours to Can Gio and Cu Chi tunnels for frontline forces. This activity aims to show gratitude and help medical staff understand the culture of HCM City. After organizing the trip, the Department of Tourism and travel business learned from experience and considered plans for the coming time.

All visitors, guides, drivers, organizers, and logistics personnel at the destinations must have received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine, test negative, and comply with 5K. The tours are organized in accordance with the "bubble" model, through closed roads.

The fourth outbreak has severely affected the tourism industry in HCM City. Statistics of districts show that over the past 6 months, 90% of small and medium-sized travel businesses and tour operators specializing in international markets have stopped operating.

The City Department of Tourism is developing a plan to restore tourism activities in a safe adaptation to COVID-19 for the rest of 2021 and 2022 in accordance with the principle of safety. The domestic market will play a key role in the recovery period./.
